Aymeric Laporte has reached an agreement to join Al-Nassr alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. The price of this deal is 30 million euros and Laporte will receive a salary of 20 million euros a year with a contract until June 2026.
Many European stars have moved to Saudi clubs this summer and the Man City defender will be the next to play in the Middle East.
According to Daily Mail journalist Jack Gaughan, the Spain international will fly to Saudi Arabia on Monday to complete his move to Al-Nassr and become a teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Laporte won 5 Premier League titles with Man City. The 29-year-old made 180 appearances for the English side after joining from Athletic Bilbao for 65 million euros in 2018.
Laporte was once an important link in Pep Guardiola’s defense but is now only fifth choice behind John Stones, Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake at centre-back. The fact that the Green Man has just recruited Josko Gvardiol for 90 million euros from RB Leipzig makes his playing opportunities even less and as a result, Laporte has decided to join Al-Nassr.
Al-Nassr has been extremely busy in the transfer market this summer, signing the likes of Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic, Seko Fofana and Alex Telles. Last season’s Saudi Pro League runner-up is also about to get Otavio’s services from Porto in a deal worth 60 million euros.
After the opening 2 matches of Saudi Pro League 2023/24, Al-Nassr had to admit defeat. Therefore, the fans are hoping that the arrival of Laporte and Otavio can help turn the situation around.
